(Angola, IN) September 24, 2018 – In celebration of Manufacturing Day 2018, four Angola manufacturers will open their doors on Saturday, September 29th to the public as part of an effort to change people’s perceptions about today’s manufacturing environment and draw attention to the outstanding opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide. In addition to the open houses and facility tours, a tent area will host booths from additional manufacturers and local organizations.
The open houses and facility tours will take place at:
- Double Envelope, 100 Woodhull Drive
- RR Donnelley, 611 W Mill Street
- Univertical, 203 Weatherhead Street
- Vestil (Plant 1), 2999 N Wayne Street
A tent will be set up in Univertical’s parking lot with booths hosted by Koester Metals Inc., Miller Poultry, Freedom Academy and Steuben County Promise. Event flyers with a map of the tour locations will be available at the tent.
The event runs from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and will also feature food trucks such as Fork & Fiddle, Kona Ice, and Pizza Diva.
Manufacturing Day is an annual national event executed at the local level supported by thousands of manufacturers as they host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses, plant tours and presentations designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.
“There is an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the manufacturing sector who can design, program and operate technology,” said Kristie Trick, president of the Steuben County Industrial Guild. “The average age of a manufacturing employee is 56, and between now and 2020 there will be an unprecedented shortage of skilled workers who will need to be replaced.”
