ANGOLA — The first ever full-time pediatrician to be based in Steuben County is joining Cameron Memorial Community Hospital’s Cameron Pediatrics team.

Dr. Teykia Deveaux is a board-certified pediatrician focused on the care of infants, children and adolescents.

Deveaux will become the first pediatrician to work fulltime in Steuben County. Other pediatricians have held office hours in Steuben County, but none have been based in the community, said Allison Kohl, marketing manager with Cameron.

Beginning Jan. 21 she will be seeing patients and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at her office in the Cameron Medical Office Building at 306 E. Maumee St., Suite 303, Angola, and on Thursdays at her office in Fremont 401 Broad St., Suite D.

Deveaux completed her undergraduate degree at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, and her medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C.

She completed her residency at the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent in Indianapolis, where she spent her time serving as the senior resident supervising interns, medical students and physician assistants.

She also spent one year at the Japanese Red Cross DaiIchi Hospital in Nagoya, Japan, serving in the pediatric oncology department.

Deveaux comes to Angola from Nassau, The Bahamas, where she served as a pediatrician with Precious Posterity Pediatrics, and she previously served as a pediatrician at Jane Pauley Community Health Center in Indianapolis for two years.
